Winter is Coming… and RefME is off to the frozen lands of Finland for one of the highlights of the year’s tech calendar: Slush
RefME CTO Tom Gardiner will be taking to the Green Stage on Thursday 12th to explore the topic of how technology is transforming education. He will talk about how, in the era of Big Data and information overload, RefME’s mission of mapping out citations will help students navigate through content and find the knowledge that’s relevant to them. Joining Tom in that discussion will be speakers from Scool (a “think and do tank” that tests out innovative concepts for schools) the Minerva Project (which aims to reinvent higher education in a global and technological context) and EIT Digital (a knowledge and innovation community fostering collaboration between digital entrepreneurs).
With its mission of helping to “propel the next generation of world-conquering companies forward,” last year’s edition attracted over 14000 entrepreneurs, investors, students, dignitaries and generally cool people, with 2015 looking set to do even better. The attendee and speaker list so far includes top investors and accelerators – Y Combinator, Google Ventures, Yossi Vardi, 500 Startups and Index Ventures – as well as heads of state – such as the President of Estonia, the Prince of Sweden and Finnish former president and Nobel Peace Prize winner Martti Ahtisaari – and a host of entrepreneurs including Skype Co-founder Niklas and startups like TransferWise, Blippar, Valve, Zendesk, Flickr and Delivery Hero.
The events will be live streamed and we will also post updates here after we get back, so watch this space! In the meantime let us know if you’ll be heading North to join the fun, and tweet any questions using hashtag #slush15 to @GetRefME
